Resistance to Light (Minor, Major, Great) (Basaia, Azrai)
This Blood power normally manifests in bloodlines of races that exist primarily beneath the ground, away from the sun. This is assumed to be because the surface races do not suffer from the kind of harmful effects that this power helps protect against and therefore the latent ability has never been activated. These Bloodlines can resist the negative effects of strong light sources, including sunlight. If a scion with this ability is exposed to bright light, they reduce their damage taken from it and penalties taken because of it by the percentage of the Resistance power. Additionally, upon exposure to the light of the Sun, the Scion may make a Resistance Test. If it is successful, they can henceforth operate in sunlight unhampered by any penalties; Scions of Basaias Bloodline gain a glowing aura as if their very being exudes sunlight and power and Scions of Azrai have a shadowy, subtly inky aura, as if they were stood under a cloud. These auras extend only an inch or so from the bodies of the Scions, and are barely noticeable unless specifically looked for. They do however detect as Magical if such an effect is checked for. From that point on, natural sunlight causes them no harm, and they reduce unnatural sunlight as per their Resistance level. If the Resistance Test should fail, they continue taking the appropriate penalties until they have spent a full week out of the sun, at which point, they may test again upon their next exposure.

Blood Node (Minor, Major) (Azrai, Vorynn)
With this power, the very body of the Scion becomes an Underdark Energy Node equivalent to those that are used in the manufacture of Drow items. As a Minor ability, The body of the Scion emits harmless radiation which mimics that of the Nodes. This causes any worn or carried Node-enhanced items to not only be protected from destruction by Sunlight, but maintain its power. If such a device would have been destroyed by contact with the sunlight (standard 90% chance) however, the power of the item is greatly reduced (by as much as ½ or more in most cases). As a Major ability the radiation is stronger, no longer harmless, but items are not only protected but also maintain their full strength. The radiation damages plant life within 20 feet, causing it to weaken and slowly die (around 1hp per week damage). Note: Damage caused by this radiation does NOT heal naturally. Magical healing applies as normal.
In all cases, proximity to the body of the Scion counts as “exposure to the Underdark” for the purposes of items longevity on the surface world.
